During a time of much uncertainty in our world, one thing we are certain of is that equity matters. We are also certain of the incredible power, resilience, and love that exists within our Central Coast community.
With this release of Equity Matters 2024, we are expanding the geographic scope of our original CCREI analysis to include San Luis Obispo County, providing a fuller picture of trends that span the tri-county region. Our intention is to reflect a truly tri-county approach to organizing and equity work. In honor of this sacred land we inhabit and the ancestral Chumash and Tatavium caretakers, this tri-county approach honors a deep connection across interconnected communities and histories in the spirit of our interconnected future.
We aim to foster understanding and promote constructive dialogue. We also recognize that this publication is not exhaustive, and does not include data on the full range of inequities experienced in our region. This is not meant to narrow the scope of the broader initiative. Our aim is to work with the data resources we now have at hand to open the door to a conversation that, with additional inquiry including community-generated sources of data collection, can be the basis of inter-sectoral organizing and collaboration now and in the future.
