In 2022 and 2023, The Fund for Santa Barbara partnered with Evolve Equity to create the Central Coast Regional Equity Initiative Strategic Action Plan. This community-led process included the perspectives and experiences of a wide range of local community members and leaders from diverse sectors, and centered Indigenous values and a decolonized lens to co-create opportunities for equity-centered action organizing. The Strategic Action plan includes a variety of community tools and starting points for trust based collaboration.
We also invite you to read our publication, “Central Coast Regional Equity Initiative: Co-Creating and Actionizing a New Community-Led Equity Framework” which was published in the Social Sciences journal. This article shares our team’s fundamental evaluation and planning principles in an effort to share our experience with what community-led research truly means. Special appreciation to the Institute for Social Transformation at University of Santa Cruz for the opportunity to publish cost-free after presenting on the CCREI’s work at their “All-In: Co-Creating Knowledge for Justice” conference in October 2022.
