Who We Are
The Central Coast Regional Equity Initiative (CCREI) draws on research contributions from the UCSB Blum Center on Poverty, Inequality, and Democracy, The Fund for Santa Barbara, and USC Equity Research Institute. Guided by a series of consultations with diverse groups of Central Coast residents, the CCREI combines data from a range of government sources to report on key equity indicators that inform our ongoing work in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.

Impact
Our approach treats research as a tool that should serve community needs rather than solely academic findings, creating space for both experiential understanding and empirical data to inform meaningful, sustainable solutions. Our work centers on genuine community partnership, beginning with the fundamental question: “What do you need?”. We recognize that community leaders and organizers possess valuable experiential knowledge about the challenges they face, and our role is to provide data that supports and validates what they already know from their wealth of experiences. Through collaborative consultation and strategic planning processes, we ensure that community voices shape every aspect of our work—from initial questions through data interpretation and action planning.
