Equity and access to legal information along the Central Coast: Know Your Rights in P’urhépecha

Using the tools of language documentation and linguistic analysis, this project mobilizes information in the ACLU’s Know Your Rights resource by translating it from Spanish to P’urhépecha, an Indigenous language native to Michoacán that is spoken by many essential workers within UCSB’s footprint.

Promoting Financial Aid Awareness and Post-Secondary Access Among Undocumented High School Students

This study explores how school personnel (administrators, school counselors, and other support staff) inform students attending high schools with large numbers of likely undocumented students about their eligibility to apply for state financial aid through the California Dream Act and their right to pay for in-state tuition.
